Nicki Carano Memorial Scholarship

UPDATED 2020/2021

This scholarship was created by the family and friends of Nicki Carono. Nicki was born in Tucson, AZ and later moved to San Diego where she helped run her father’s music store and pawn shop. Nicki began playing the drums as a teenager and after graduating from Clairemont High School, she enrolled in the dance program at Mesa College. Nicki became a professional dancer and musician, and performed all over the world in musical theater, film, and dance productions. She felt honored to perform for the military on tours to Iraq, Africa, Kosovo and the Persian Gulf. In addition to her career as a performer, Nicki also was a gifted teacher of dance at Mesa College, The Academy of Performing Arts, Coronado School of the Arts, The Preuss School UCSD, and Nightingale Music. This scholarship is in memory of Nicki and her love of dance, music, and performing arts throughout her life. Nicki was a beloved sister, daughter, aunt, and friend that will live in our hearts forever.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must have a 2.5 (C+) GPA
Must be enrolled at least part time at Mesa College
Must be returning to mesa college in the fall
Must major in one of the following areas: Music, Dance
Must have completed 12+ units at Mesa

Award funds will be disbursed:
Half Next Fall (Aug/Sept) / Half Next Spring (Feb/Mar)
Scholarship funds are available four to six weeks after the start of semester.
