LEAD Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to provide an equitable resource to a student that exemplifies leadership and values diversity, equity, & inclusion efforts both inside the classroom and in the field of healthcare.

To be considered for this scholarship you:

  • Must demonstrate service to others
  • Must demonstrate leadership
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be returning to Mesa College in the fall
  • Must major in one of the following areas:
    Physical Therapist Assistant

Supplemental Questions
  1. 2025: The mission of LEAD incorporates leadership, equitable opportunities, diversity and action items to enhance the education of PTAs and the profession of physical therapy. Speak about an experience that you have had or been a part of that is bigger than yourself and how has it influenced your journey in the profession of physical therapy?
  2. 2025: What are your goals for giving back to the Mesa PTA community and/or the LEAD program?
  3. 2025: Your Educational Journey. Please share the following: The educational journey that led you to Mesa, including what you did before coming here and what made you decide to enroll at Mesa. Your future goals, including what you plan to do after graduation from Mesa and what your long-term career and educational goals are. Why you chose your major or field of study. You do not need to include every detail, but please try to address each part of the question (your goals, challenges overcome, and what it would mean to you). (500 words)
  4. 2025: Resiliency Question. Please share the following: How you have exhibited resiliency in your life. Specific examples of a challenge or challenges that you have overcome. How this scholarship will have a meaningful impact on your educational journey. You do not need to include every detail, but please try to address each part of the question (your goals, challenges overcome, and what it would mean to you). (500 words)
  5. 2025: Financial Need. Submit an original essay describing your financial need. Mention if you are eligible for PELL or BOG funding, or describe why you are not eligible for PELL or BOG. Include any outside financial support you receive from all sources. (500 words)
  6. 2025: Community Service. Please share your experience regarding ways you give back to your community, this may include volunteerism, or helping out with family, friends, church, etc. (500 words)
  7. 2025: Leadership. Please describe your individual leadership style and discuss a specific incident or event where its characteristics demonstrated beneficial service to the campus or your community. Additionally, define what that service has meant to you. (500 words)
